Isolation is still alive and well in this country. When I talk about people will say"well the prisoner must have done something terrible...blah blah" Well ok but no one should be in isolation indefinately. Prison is the punishment for the crime, isolation is in my opinion only for torture.We the People have a right in our 8th amendment to not be tortured if we break the law.Solitary Watch posted this story about Tommy Silverstein last year.America’s Most Isolated Federal Prisoner Describes 10,220 Days in Extreme Solitary ConfinementHe did something bad, but he still has rights as an American to not be tortured if we let this happen to one which this country did almost 30 years ago now we see it has run amok the abuse of power the expensive over use of isolation. All because we have no humanity. You might not like Tom but hes a living breathing soul just like you and me.I made this for Tom

Down with slavery the people supporting Dems Obama included dont realize they are making money from this industry.Close these torture chambers good for Illinois!prison is the punishment spending extra money on these Supermaxes just lines beaurocrat pockets. Ask yourself "What is it called when you make money by keeping people in chains?" answer yourself "it is called slavery"

PRISONER HUNGER STRIKE DEMANDSEliminate group punishments and practice individual accountability if a prisoner breaks a rule.Modify the gang classifications that send people to long-term isolation, and abolish the "debriefing" process by which inmates can only get out of isolation if they provide information on gang activity.Comply with a 2006 report by a federal commission that recommended segregating prisoners as a "last resort."Provide adequate food.Expand educational, self-help and religious programs and offer more privileges, including a phone call per week and permission to wear sweatsuits.COST OF ISOLATIONHow much taxpayers paid per year for regular prisoners and those kept in isolation:$58,234: Per regular inmate$70,641: Per inmate in isolationSo why does our country use it? One inmate I spoke to recently had surgery I asked how long he'd had the problem he said he's been waiting 10yrs,Food I spoke to another prisoner that said his prison bought smaller trays so they would look full. And the food they do get is disgusting and high in soy.My own cousin ending up in the "hole" because he was hungry and went thru the chow line twice.Stamps, envelopes, paper all must be purchased by prisoner. Not to worry, our trusted Colorado DOC management says it is beneficial for the prisoners to be locked up 23 hours a day in total isoloation. 70% of the 1434 prisoners that DOC classifies as "administrative segregation" are on state issued multiple drugs. By their own stats, in June 2011 7.2% of their prisoners are filling every bed available at a cost of over $50,000 per prisoner or $71.7 million. Do you think our education system could use $71.7 million extra dollars?mpc see Think Outside the cage for the full story
